The Starry Field: A Gathering of New Two-Spirit Indigequeer Poetry edited by Crisosto Apache and Julian Tanya, is the first anthology in over a decade devoted exclusively to Two-Spirit and Indigequeer poetry, bringing together established and emerging Native writers from across the sovereign nations of the so-called United States. Organized into four sections—Lunarescence, Beauty Way, Ululation, and The Anterior We—the collection shows poetry’s crucial role in Indigenous activism and language revitalization. It arrives amid a resurgent campaign of erasure against trans, queer, and Indigenous people alike, gathering voices who write toward a pre-binary past that has never stopped being the future.
